Assistant/Associate Professor of Civil Engineering

Virginia Military Institute’s Civil & Environmental Engineering Department invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the general area of Construction Management with a background in structural and materials courses. The position will be at the assistant or associate professor level.  The appointment begins 1 August 2013.    

The department is ABET accredited in Civil Engineering and VMI is a public, four-year undergraduate military college for men and women (1600 students).  The successful candidates will be expected to teach a variety of basic engineering and junior and senior design courses, advise/supervise students, and engage in scholarly and/or professional activity.  Performance is evaluated on the basis of 1) teaching, 2) scholarly engagement, 3) professional citizenship, and 4) cadet development.   

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, and must have excellent teaching and communication skills.  Industry experience is preferred and professional registration, or the ability to obtain registration within two years of appointment, is required.  Please apply on-line at:  https://jobs.agencies.virginia.gov/applicants/Central?quickFind=156849
