Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for part-time summer workers. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Work schedule will be up to 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Wage is $7.75/hr.
Interior painting to include walls, ceilings, and trim work. Some work on step ladders and some exterior duties to include working from heights. Must be able to use brushers, equipment and perform manual labor
Grounds maintenance (landscaping, horticultural activities; mowing, trimming, pruning) operation of equipment used in grounds maintenance; setting up and moving equipment and furniture. Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather temperatures and conditions.
Duties to include cleaning of rooms, offices, halls and bathrooms; working on 6-foot stepladders to clean and replace lights; and other general cleaning duties. Ability to tolerate a variety of cleaning chemicals, stand for long periods of time, and to life at least 50 pounds.
Supports the receiving, shipping and inventory control section of Physical Plant by verifying shipments, maintaining control of inventory and issuing material to maintenance teams. Computer skills required. Knowledge of warehousing and inventory systems preferred.
MOTOR POOL WORKERS
To wash & wax vehicles and assist the motor pool staff as needed with various mechanical and logistical work.
Successful candidate must undergo a criminal background check. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment. Qualifications vary based on assignment. Must be at least 18 years of age.
