Methicillin resistant staphylococcal aureus (MRSA) is now a standard cause of skin infections all across the country. All colleges and athletic programs struggle with trying to reduce the number of MRSA infections. If diagnosed and treated early, it is easily managed.
The entire Corps and VMI staff are briefed about early signs of infection and when to seek treatment. We follow careful cleaning procedures throughout Post. Athletic department and physical education staff are educated about the infection and watch their students carefully. The Infirmary nurses and doctors have extensive experience with diagnosing and treating the infection.
We follow Center for Disease Control guidelines and monitor changes in recommendations.
