Site work for the Corps Physical Training Facility began in May 2014, with construction scheduled to begin in the summer. The $122 million project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.
Phase I of the project includes an $80 million indoor training facility with a hydraulic track, high ropes course, and climbing wall, plus an underground parking deck. Phase II of the project, which will run concurrently with Phase I, will include renovations to Cormack Hall and Cocke Hall. Cormack Hall will be the new home of VMI’s physical education department, while Cocke Hall will serve as a strength training and aerobic fitness facility for cadets, faculty, and staff.
