A modern education demands modern facilities. Period.
A modern education demands modern facilities. Period. Cadets cannot fulfill their potentials as students and as leaders if they live and learn in outdated and uncomfortable buildings and train and compete in athletics at all levels in inadequate facilities. Nor can the Institute’s faculty and staff provide the education that cadets and their families should rightfully expect if they must work in substandard buildings.
Modern, up-to-date facilities also give VMI an edge in recruiting prospective cadets. Young people can see the overall attitude of a school toward its student body in the state of the facilities in which students learn, live, train, and compete.
The military nature of VMI’s extraordinary education means that VMI needs to develop, maintain, and update such facilities as drill fields, confidence courses, and firing ranges.
