VMI Community Updates

Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:

  • Are you a recipient of a three or four-year ROTC national scholarship? A unique opportunity exists at VMI to help fund your journey toward commissioning into the U.S. Armed Forces. The Call to Duty Scholarship covers the cost of housing (room) and food (board) at the Institute for cadet recipients. Learn more and apply today.
  • Compete to Win is coming! To be held March 25–27, this fourth annual fundraiser for VMI athletics allows donors to enhance the cadet-athlete experience by contributing to a specific team or the Athletic Director’s Discretionary Fund. Your support will provide cadet-athletes with the resources they need to compete to win.
  • Recent additions to VMI's featured stories explore life on post as well as how VMI's leadership training and commitment to academic, military, and athletic excellence set cadets up for success during and after their time in Lexington.
  • Parking Changes - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has begun a Route 11 bicycle lane construction project Monday, March 3. This will create a permanent removal of parking spaces along either side of Main Street (Route 11) in front of VMI facilities from Massie Street to Hook Lane (the Aquatic Center to Cormack Hall). More information and a downloadable map are available.
  • Jackson House Museum Operational Updates: The Museum Store and Exhibit Gallery reopened March 1, and the historic Jackson House will reopen April 1. Special lectures will be available in the garden during March.

VMI Community: To receive important information concerning emergencies, weather, traffic, and parking, text the word "Keydet" to 772-95.

College students, who are members of the Corps of Cadets at VMI, march during a formal military parade.

Choose to lead. Choose honor. Choose VMI.

The VMI experience is a time-tested program that develops cadets into citizen-soldiers, ready to lead and serve with honor. Among the alumni of VMI are a Nobel Prize winner, 11 Rhodes Scholars, seven Medal of Honor recipients, and countless leaders across the public, military, and private sectors of life.
