George Washington: The American Cincinnatus

Translating His Honorable Life to Today's World

William Hubbard's "George Washington," cast in 1856.The 2014 Virginia Military Institute Leadership Conference will take place on 25 February 2014. Designed for an audience of the Corps of Cadets and interested faculty and staff, this year’s conference will explore George Washington as an exemplar of honor and leadership.

Participants will examine this heroic figure to gain a deeper understanding of his motivations and decisions, and be challenged to decide if the leadership insight gleaned is still relevant in the world today.

This year’s conference will provide a forum for cadets to discuss the themes of Washington’s life including honor, leadership, public service and self-improvement. Such discussions enhance the leadership training system of VMI, allowing cadets to reflect on their own philosophies and skills while examining those of others.

Note to Cadets: Uniform for the conference is class dyke.
