The VMI Keydet Club is committed to full compliance with NCAA Rules and the Executive Vice President, or his designee, will reinforce this commitment annually with the Keydet Club Staff and Board of Governors.
VMI alumni may be the best marketing tool the Institute can use to recruit cadets to VMI. Each year many of these potential cadets seek out alumni for interviews, question and answer sessions, and letters of reference during the admissions process. This process is truly amazing, and we want these relationships to never end; however, this relationship can become complex if the potential cadet is interested in being a NCAA athlete at the Institute.
Given the current allegations and scandals surrounding some of the most prestigious athletic programs across the country, the Keydet Club asks that all of its’ members adhere to the NCAA rules and regulations. Each year several universities must self-report incidents that occurred involving inappropriate actions by an alumnus/booster. Many of these incidents are innocent and unintentional, but the school may still be punished for the violation.
The Keydet Club and the VMI Athletic Department ask that all Keydet Club members and VMI alumni stand by the “if you aren’t 100% sure it’s legal, then ask first.” The best resource for any of your questions/concerns is the VMI Office of Compliance. To reach this office please call 540-464-7035 or email David Sigler, VMI Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, at SiglerDG@vmi.edu.
We thank you for your continued support, and we appreciate your diligence regarding the NCAA Compliance rules and regulations
