2012-09-04, 1030 hours - Automatic Fix for Java Vulnerability
Last week, a major US network security company discovered a vulnerability in Java, a web platform that interfaces with many commonly used Internet browsers, including those utilized by VMI. When left open, this vulnerability can be exploited so that intruders can gain access to files and data on vulnerable systems.
In response to the discovery, Oracle (the developer for Java) has issued an update that patches the vulnerability, and VMI’s IT department is in the process of pushing that update to all VMI workstations. If you see any notifications informing you that your workstation has been updated, they refer to these Java updates. The updates will not require a computer reboot and no user actions are necessary.
