2nd Evacuation Hospital in Europe

Dr. John L. Couper, M.D. graduated from VMI in 1937 and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He served in the U. S. Army Medical Corps from 1941-1946, spending four years overseas with the St. Luke's Unit (2nd Evacuation Hospital). The unit trained in England and subsequently saw five campaigns in northern Europe with the Fifth Corps, First Army. This album, part of the Couper Papers,  documents his unit's work and includes views of many Medical Corps personnel and facilities in England, France and Belgium.
