EHRS Professor to Publish Anscombe Essays

LEXINGTON, Va., Aug. 22, 2022—Dr. Duncan Richter, Professor of Philosophy in the Department of English, Rhetoric, and Humanistic Studies and Charles S. Luck III ’55 Institute Professor, recently finished essays about Elizabeth Anscombe which will be published in two books, The Oxford Handbook of Elizabeth Anscombe and The Creation of Wittgenstein: Understanding the Roles of Rush Rhees, Elizabeth Anscombe and Georg Henrik von Wright. Anscombe contributed significantly to moral philosophy and the philosophy of action in the twentieth century. Richter teaches ERH 207W, Ethics, a required core course for English majors, as well as courses in aesthetics and comparative religion. Richter also advises the VMI Ethics Team and is the VMI representative for the Virginia Program at Oxford.
