Preserve Our Legacy

History and Heritage

From the New Market battlefield to the Stonewall Jackson House and the VMI Museum, the Institute’s heritage is unlike that of any other college or university, and it is treasured by VMI alumni who tread in the footsteps of those who have contributed so much over the history of our nation.

As VMI looks forward to its third century, increased funding is needed to preserve this heritage and tell VMI’s remarkable story. Funds are needed, too, for renovation of Moody Hall, the hub of alumni activity, a gathering place for alumni and guests, and a venue for conferences and ceremonies.

Your support will help safeguard these facilities and preserve VMI’s 175-year-old heritage for future generations of cadets, alumni, and friends.

New Market

The Battle of New Market is the Institute’s proudest moment, and the New Market cadets provide an example against which today's cadets measure themselves. Planned renovations will improve how the story of the battle and of the cadets’ courage, determination, and sacrifice are told.

VMI Museum

Support the presentation of VMI’s extraordinary heritage and the preservation and interpretation of more than 15,000 artifacts”.

Stonewall Jackson House

Contributions to the Stonewall Jackson House will help preserve the house and its collections and educate the public about the life and times of Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson.
