Support the Team

VMI athletics is about shaping character, competing honorably, and forging stronger bonds within the VMI family.

Cadets are given the opportunity to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics while broadening their horizons through VMI’s extraordinary education.

More than one-quarter of the Corps of Cadets is a member of the Institute’s 18 NCAA Division I teams; however, because the Institute is one of the smallest Division I institutions, it lacks the resources that large schools have. Generous private giving, therefore, is essential if our athletic program is to continue in its mission.

Both endowment and annual giving generate the operating support for VMI’s athletic teams that allows coaches and staff to focus on developing cadets as athletes and leaders and to build competitive programs. Endowment and annual giving also provide grant-in-aid support to our cadet-athletes.

Grant-in-aid support makes it possible for extraordinary young athletes to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics while becoming extraordinary young leaders.

Support for athletic operations gives VMI’s coaches and athletic staff the resources they need to help cadet-athletes fully achieve their athletic and leadership potential.

The cadet-athletes who proudly represent VMI – and the coaches and staff members who serve them – deserve the best possible facilities for practice and competition.
