This exhibit features photographs from Willis S. Riddick's World War II album. They were taken during 1943-1944 on New Hebrides and Bougainville, Solomon Islands.
Willis S. Riddick, Jr. graduated from VMI in 1939 with a B. S. degree in Chemistry. He entered the U. S. Army in July 1940 and served until his retirement in 1967, rising to the rank of Colonel. A decorated veteran of 33 months of overseas duty during World War II, he served with Battery "A", 6th Field Artillery Battalion, in the Pacific Theater. The unit was at New Hebrides, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and the Philippines. Col. Riddick died in 1999.
