Director of Reunion Giving and Engagement - VMI Alumni Agencies

The VMI Alumni Agencies is searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual ready to serve as the director of reunion giving and engagement.

Reporting to the VMI Foundation chief operating officer, the director of reunion giving and engagement works with fundraising colleagues and volunteer reunion committees to lead the development of successful campaigns, providing planning and oversight for the 10th, 25th, and 50th Reunion classes to execute successful fundraising campaigns to benefit VMI and the Corps of Cadets for years to come. The director of reunion giving and engagement will also work with all reunion classes to help them reconnect and ensure every brother rat is invited and encouraged to attend their reunion.

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with the VMI Foundation COO to build reunion campaign timelines and strategies for each upcoming class to increase reunion gift outcomes through reunion campaign meetings, face-to-face donor, and volunteer visits with the goal of increasing financial support and class participation.
  • Work with the Alumni Agencies chief development officer to ensure major gift fundraisers are engaged with prospects from the classes and coordinate mailings.
  • Actively contribute to achieving reunion fundraising goals.
  • Plan each reunion campaign using data-driven models to help drive/ensure successful outcomes.
  • Guide prospect identification efforts within each class, identifying potential lead donors and establishing appropriately ambitious goals.
  • Recruit volunteers to serve on reunion committees—ideally, fundraising, outreach, and event logistics. Encourage peer-to-peer outreach to increase engagement, contact updates, and donations.
  • Provide progress reports to volunteers, fundraising colleagues, and key administrators.
  • Work closely with the reunion team to fulfill committee needs.

Who we are looking for:

  • Someone with a 4-year degree or experience in events, higher education, or similar is preferred.
  • Someone with strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • A proven track record of written and oral communication skills is important.
  • Someone who enjoys research analytics with experience in fundraising.
  • A history of experience with volunteer or personnel management.
  • A self-starter who works independently, overseeing projects and managing competing priorities.
  • A person who is up to speed and comfortable working with software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser’s Edge/NXT or other database software.
