After a hiatus due to COVID-19, the club — dubbed The Regulators — took to nationals last year sweeping the competition. This year, they aim to do it again.
Virginia Military Institute hosted the 6th annual Commonwealth Cyber Fusion and Virginia Cyber Cup Competition, a state-wide collegiate cyber security competition Feb. 24-25.

The Virginia Military Institute Regimental Band and Pipe Band traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana recently to perform in the Krewe of Endymion, the largest Mardi Gras parade in the city.

The combat shooting club team, currently consisting of 13 cadets, meets every Tuesday and Thursday at a location known as “the barn” at North Post.

For the first time in history, Virginia Military Institute cadets have received active-duty direct commissions to the USCG by way of the Auxiliary University Programs, and will take their oath of office and receive their first salute at the Joint Commissioning Ceremony in May.

The new cadet activity center located on the ground floor of Crozet Hall has been dubbed “The Arsenal,” through a vote by the Corps of Cadets, and is for their use to relax, socialize, and enjoy televised events. They chose the name as a nod to VMI’s history.

The ribbon cutting and dedication of Virginia Military Institute’s Corps Physical Training Facility Phase III, the Aquatic Center took place Jan. 27. Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins ’85, superintendent celebrated the event with local dignitaries and special guests.

John Brodie, director of music at Virginia Military Institute, has been playing disc golf for five years, ever since his brother Chris got him involved. Although Brodie admits to being competitive in friendly games, he prefers not to compete in tournaments. He plays wherever and whenever he can.

With the coronavirus pandemic interrupting the standard three-year cycle of inductions, the 2022 Hall of Fame class consisted of 10: seven members plus a veteran honoree and two special citation honorees as voted on by the committee.

Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins ‘85, VMI superintendent, reflects on the many accomplishments of the VMI community during the past year. In academics, military life, and athletics, cadets, faculty, and staff proudly represented the Institute with dedication, hard work, and competitive excellence.
