VMI Theatre Presents “The Lighter Side of Military Life”

LEXINGTON, Va,, Sept. 30, 2022—The VMI Theatre presents “The Lighter Side of Military Life” for Virginia Military Institute’s Family Weekend on Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2:00 p.m. in Gillis Theater.

The show is a revue of military life in sketches that include satire, humor, poetry, drama, and music. This year marks the eighth edition of the show, and features some lively moments from the American Revolution through World War II, and offers a variety of tunes that were popular during those times.

Cadets in the cast include Luke Cockerham ’26, Matthew Frazier ’23, Io Neo ’25, Colin Nicassio ’26, Daniel O'Neal ’25, Nicole Samella ’26, John Sullivan ’25, and Victoria Wright ’24.  Community performers are Andrew Hartless, Paula Oxendine, and Tim Price. The play is directed by long-time VMI Theatre director, Joellen Bland, assisted by Linda Gorman. 

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens ages 65 and over. Cash or check only payable at the door. Cadets and children ages six and under are free. Reservations are not required. Gillis Theater is located in Marshall Hall on Post.
