VMI Welcomes American Legion Riders
LEXINGTON, Va., May 30, 2024—The 7th annual Legacy Run of the Virginia American Legion Riders will make a stop at Virginia Military Institute on Friday, June 14. The group, consisting of 50 to 100 motorcycles, will arrive on post at 8:45 a.m. and tour several buildings.
According to Rick Siler, western region director for the Virginia American Legion, the group raises money for the American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation, which feeds and houses children of military personnel and veterans facing urgent, unexpected hardships. “It prevents eviction, keeps the power on, and fulfills basic needs to hold a family together through difficult times. The riders of this group come from all walks of life, from over the state. We are a brotherhood and sisterhood who not only enjoy each other’s company, but we also enjoy giving back, and serving others,” said Siler.
Members of the community are welcome to come to post and greet the riders, before they leave at 11 a.m. The ride will continue through Buena Vista, then end in Richmond Friday evening.
