Upcoming Meetings
There are three regular meetings of the Board each year. Specific dates for regular meetings are set by the Secretary of the Board upon consultation with, and the concurrence of, the President of the Board and the Superintendent. The Board’s last regular meeting of the academic year is designated as its Annual Meeting.
Special meetings of the Board may be called by the President of the Board, the Superintendent, by a majority vote of the Executive Committee, or by the request of a majority of the members of the Board.

The Virginia Military Institute Board of Visitors will hold several meetings April 27 - 29, 2026, at various times according to the schedule posted on the VMI website. Virginia Military Institute business will be discussed by the board members in attendance. The meeting is open to the public.

NOTE: The Virginia Military Institute Board of Visitors is expected to consider rates for tuition and mandatory fees for the 2026-2027 academic year at its meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
- For both in-state and out-of-state cadets, the board will consider tuition increases ranging from 0% to 5%.
- The board will consider mandatory fee increases, which support a mix of academic and non-academic support services, between 0% and 5% for all cadets.
Revenue generated from tuition and fee increases, in combination with other revenues and reallocated funds, will likely be used to address personnel costs, including the Institute’s share of state mandated salary, fringe benefit, and health insurance changes, enhancements to academic programs, and implementation of strategic initiatives.
§ 23.1-307 (D) of the Code of Virginia requires that 30 days prior to approval of each year’s tuition and mandatory fees, the Board of Visitors announce the range of increases under consideration and the proposed use of any incremental revenue.
PUBLIC COMMENT: The Board of Visitors will receive public comment at its meeting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Individuals wishing to address the board may sign up at www.vmi.edu/PublicComment. The sign-up form will close at noon on Monday, April 27, 2026. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes, and the board will allow up to 30 minutes collectively for public comment. Speakers must be present at the board meeting to participate in the public comment period. Requests to speak virtually or through other electronic means will not be accommodated. Individuals addressing the board should not expect board members to provide comment, feedback, or answer any questions during the public comment period.
Written comments may be submitted to bovsecretary@vmi.edu. Any comments received prior to Friday, April 24, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. will be made available to board members prior to the beginning of the meeting. Written comments received after close of business on April 24, 2026, will be distributed to board members but may be after the board meetings.
